YSGOL Y DDERI INSPECTORS REPORT

Ysgol Y Dderi was inspected in June 2008, by an independent team of inspectors, led by Miss Dorothy Morris.

Here are the findings.

“This is a good school with outstanding features. The outstanding features include the innovative leadership of the headteacher, the rich curriculum and the stimulatinglearning experiences provided, the motivating learning environment, the success in promoting inclusion and equal opportunities, and the excellent collaboration amongst all the staff. This is underpinned by the efficient management of all learning resources. Since the last inspection, the school has maintained the good standards in the subjects inspected and improved the quality of the educational provision further.

The self-evaluation report, written by the headteacher, deputy headteacher, governing body and staff, is a comprehensive document that clearly identifies the strengths and areas in need of improvement.

The school achieved six Grade 1s  and one Grade 2.

In the lessons inspected, pupils’ standards of achievement are as follows:

  • Grade 1 - 19%
  • Grade 2 - 81%

These percentages are above the Welsh Assembly Governments (WAG) target for 2010, for the quality of learning assessed by Estyn to be Grade 3 or better in 98% of classes.”
